Shania's half-brother beats drug charges: "Things are looking 'Up! Up! Up!' for the half-brother of country music superstar Shania Twain after an Edmonton judge dismissed drug charges against him yesterday. Darryl Christopher Twain, 31, had been facing cocaine trafficking charges, however, Court of Queen's Bench Justice Eric Macklin tossed the evidence after ruling two city police officers had breached his Charter rights.

'The breaches of the accused's Charter rights were serious, if not egregious, and I am persuaded that the admission of the evidence in this case would bring the administration of justice into greater disrepute than would its exclusion,' said Macklin.

The judge ruled the officers, Const. Danny Hudon and Const. Clint Stallknecht, unlawfully detained Twain and his co-accused Franklin Logan, 34, failed to read them their rights and conducted an illegal search of their vehicle."

It was a parody off the top of Monday's CMT Music Awards and one of the funnier things I've ever seen Shania Twain do -- but I couldn't believe my ears! The show opened with a shot of Shania reading. Her cellphone rings (cute ... O Canada is her ring tone) she answers and the shot cuts to host Jeff Foxworthy spoofing (in the same silky off-the-shoulder number Shania wore in the video) the singer's invitation to a Party for Two only redneck style.

All very amusing and innocuous until our Canadian darling starts cursing like a trucker in a fit of road rage. 'Who the f-(BLEEP!) is this?' she demanded. Then, 'Listen ass (BLEEP!)' (why they chose to bleep the word 'hole' instead of its predecessor is beyond me.)

There I sat gaping at my television like Cledus the Slack-Jawed Yokel from The Simpsons, very amused yet, certain there would be an outcry of close to Nipplegate proportions at this profanity-spewing Canadian on a wholesome American Country Music Awards show."

North Americans Follow Pop Star Shania Twain By Using Made-For-Animal Ointments As Beauty Products, According to Veterinary Supply Company, Dominion Vet Labs: "Consumers are snatching up made-for-animal products and using them as beauty aids.

It's all part of a trend started by singing sensation Shania Twain, who a few years ago, revealed to a British newspaper her beauty secret: Bag Balm, an ointment made to heal cow udders. The Timmins, Ontario born Twain claimed she rubs the product on her face and hair to relieve dryness after long airplane flights.

Dominion Veterinary Labs (DVL), a veterinary supply company, is one of Canada's main suppliers of Bag Balm. David Earn, quality control manager for DVL, is surprised by the influx of people who walk into his Winnipeg office to buy the stuff.

'It's amazing, considering we have never promoted any of our products for human use,' says Earn, noting that his staff also fields calls about Bag Balm from the United States.

'Many of these people don't even own any horses. They're saying they use it on themselves to soften their skin -- just like Shania does.'

Earn's customers have also said they use several other made-for-animal products as beauty treatments, including Udder Budder, an ointment manufactured by DVL. Customers also use horse hoove creams such as Hoof Saver and Hoof Quencher to soften their hands and cuticles"

News: New Zealand News: Locals Oppose Shania Twain's House: "Singer Shania Twain's house plans in Wanaka are meeting with opposition.

The country music superstar has applied for consent to build a multi-million dollar house on Motatapu Station.

She paid $21 million last year for the right to lease it.

The Upper Clutha Environmental Society says the station is yet to go through a tenure review.

That could allow public access, in which case the proposed large and sprawling house would be visible from several public places.

The society also argues the site is an 'outstanding natural landscape' - not a 'visual amenity landscape' as described by Twain's planners."

News: New Zealand News: Athletes Gather At Shania Twain's Place: "More than 1100 mountain bikers and 200 runners will gather on the property of Canadian singer Shania Twain tomorrow.

Part of the inaugural Motatapu Ice-breaker event is being held on the country music superstar's Wanaka high-country station.

Bikers will tackle 51 kilometres of mountainous terrain from Glendhu Bay near Wanaka to Arrowtown, at times crossing thigh-deep rivers.

Runners face a full marathon from Twain's Motatapu Station to Arrowtown. They will climb to 887 metres and wade through several waist-deep waterways.

Coast to Coast one-day record holder Keith Murray will line up against this year's one day winner Richard Usher of Queenstown in the marathon.

Gordon McCauley, the King of the Mountains in last year's Tour of Southland, is a favourite in the mountain bike race.
